Our proposals have been carefully worked after extensive consultation with the London Borough of Havering, and a desire to listen to local people’s views. Our new ideas will transform the current Rom Valley Retail Park and Seedbed Centre in Romford into a thriving community, providing a mix of much needed local homes, including family townhouses, and commercial units which will encourage business growth.

Our new development takes into consideration the height and density of properties, which are being planned nearby. It will be built along the River Rom recreating its banks into an environment local people can enjoy, with newly developed parkland and a family orientated riverside pathway. The development will also be built around public squares, with open space and attractive landscaping, at its heart.

The 840 homes will be designed to appeal to the whole community, with family homes of three and four bedrooms. Smaller two bed and one bed homes will also appeal to the older and younger age groups. Affordable housing will be included, and be allocated for local residents. They will be finished to the same high standards as those for private sale.

Alongside the new homes will be almost 3000sqm of commercial space, enticing new jobs to the local area. The new units will provide space for start-ups and growing Romford businesses, including space for SMEs. The facilities will be suitable for a range of businesses, from arts and design to construction and technology. Existing businesses will be relocated within the new space. Our new Makers’ Yard will create a hub of activity with easy access to coffee shops, retail and spaces for informal meetings.

A much needed new primary school, with two-classes in each academic year, will be included to the benefit of new and existing residents from around the area. It will have impressive facilities, including a new play space and controlled direct access to the river walk.

Space for the inclusion of a new medical centre has also been included in the planning application, following feedback received from the consultation.

With the submission of the planning applications, Tim Simpson, Partner at Mitheridge Capital Management LLP said:

“The planning applications will deliver much needed high-quality new homes, at the same time as upgrading the small business workspace to enable local businesses to thrive long in the future. This comprehensive proposal will also include a new school, a medical centre, affordable housing for local residents and children’s play space.

"The new buildings will include the use of air source heat pumps and solar panels on roofs. Once complete the site will be far greener than it is currently, with an increase in trees and plants and enhancements to the local biodiversity, including for the River Rom. We look forward to continuing to work with officers from Havering Council in the coming months.”
